J. PEDRO FARIA
ARCHITECT
AQUEDUCT MEMORIES NEW PROJECT

1/12
Landscape Observatory
The project for a new building is the main point of observation of all five interventions, being located in the opposite side of Quintã’s Cottage. Over there is built a wide wall, with clear reference to the existing projects of Nasjonale Turistveger, and Ruta del Peregrino in Mexico (2). The idea is to create a similar view to one the Portuguese illuminist, Francisco de Holanda, draw in the 16th century.
Interpretation and documentation center
A new staircase is designed to connect the ruin of the Roman Dam and the observation point (6). Moreover, the new building holds also two bathrooms, lockers, a room with archived documents on the Aqueduct where consultation is possible, a small cafeteria (9) and an exhibition room (10).
